Ingredients of Masala Chicken Recipe
- 1/2 kg Chicken, washed and cleaned
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 bayleaf (tejpatta)
- 2 green cardamoms (choti elaichi)
- 1 stick cinnamon of 1 inch size (dalchini)
- 4 cloves (laung)
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala or chicken masala
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves
For Marination
- 2 tbsp yogurt (dahi)
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 3/4 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric (haldi)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- salt to taste
How to Marinate Masala Chicken
- Take a deep bowl and add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and yogurt and mix them well to form a paste.
- Add the chicken pieces and mix again to cover the pieces with the marinade paste.
- Cover and keep in the refrigerator for 12 hours or more.
How to Make Masala Chicken Recipe:
- Put some oil in the pan and heat on low flame. Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and saute for 1 minute.
- Put onions and chillies and saute till onions turn golden brown.
- Add tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, chicken masala, salt and cook till the tomatoes are soft and cooked and oil begins to separate.
- Put the marinated chicken pieces in the pan and cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.
- Lower the flame and cover the pan and cook for 5 minutes more. Turn the chicken pieces to cook fully.
- Add coriander leaves and mix well. Now, cover the pan and cook on low flame till chicken is fully cooked and becomes soft.
- Adjust the consistency of the gravy according to the requirement. Add some hot water if gravy is thick.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
